RECORD STORE DAY 2018

It's that time of the year again: Record Store Day is back this Saturday and Lisbon record stores are no exception when it comes to promotions, events and special items! So here's what you can expect from our associate shops:

• Sound Club Store: Multibuy promotions (buy 4 take 1 free) in similar prices, as well as vinyl at €1 and €2.50! And you can always count on shop owner Alexandre Barbosa to play some nasty grooves while you're digging!
• Discolecção: 20% discount on CDs and 10% discount on vinyl.
• Vinil Experience: Various promotions on LPs, 7"s and CDs, and also surprise gifts with €50 and €100 purchases!
• Peekaboo: 50% discount on selected items, and also open DJ booth and beer for customers (check event here)!
• Glam-O-Rama: Every buying customer will receive a compilation CD, chosen by the store.
• TNT: RSD items and 20% discount on stock selections.
• Carpet and Snares: 10% discount on all items, an exclusive homegrown RSD release, free beer and DJ sets by the house DJs (Jorge Caiado, Roy, Miguel Melo) and guest DJ VIL (HAYES Collective)!

Meanwhile, in the non-LRS affiliated shops' camp, Flur will host gigs by UNITEDSTATESOF and Bruxas/Cobras as well as a DJ set by Beautify Junkyards (check event here), while Amor Records will have discounts, promotions, drinks and DJ sets by Berllioz and Zenner (check event here).

Record Fairs: Feira de Vinil de Lisboa

There's a new record fair in town and it's going to happen inside one of the most traditional fairs in Lisbon! The Lisbon Vinyl Fair (or in Portuguese, Feira de Vinil de Lisboa) is happening on the 13th and 14th of April, inside the Sta. Marta Market building, which is exactly in the middle of the Ladra fair area (at least on Saturday the 14th).
Between the confirmed sellers are well-established brick-and-mortar shops like Groovie Records, TNT, Megastore, Peekaboo, Amor Records and Carbono Amadora, as well as several online sellers and collectors. Prepare your cash money: you're going to need it!

R.I.P. Magic Bus

It's with a heavy heart that LRS announces the demise of one of its first members. Magic Bus had been forced to relocate last November from Calçada do Duque to Avenida da Liberdade, and the change was fatal for a already waning business.
Pedro will remain active though, with a online presence in Facebook and Discogs, as well as physically selling records on Lisbon's weekly fairs (Ladra and LX Factory) - so you can still say hello and buy records from him in person! We'll miss that marvellous graffiti on the front of the old shop though :(

Record Fairs: 4ª Feira dos Senhores do Vinil

After an extended period of absence, Feira dos Senhores do Vinil is back for its fourth edition - as always, held in the bar with the best view in Lisbon (that would be PARK), and just in time for Christmas!
Just like in the previous editions, you can count with Sound Club Store's own Alexandre Barbosa behind the turntables providing the soundtrack and a selection of fine music dealers: Sound Club Vinyl Store, Flur, Carpet & Snares, Peekaboo and Magic Bus. So if you're looking for music to give to your loved ones, you now know where to go!

PEEKABOO RECORDS

Espaço Chiado has to be the shopping mall with the biggest number of record shops in Portugal. After Sound Club Store and Carpet and Snares, let us introduce PEEKABOO!

Peekaboo is owned by Trol2000, a local DJ - and exceptionally friendly guy - who’s always ready to help you with new musical discoveries. Trol's taste is reflected on the shop's selection: disco, boogie, new wave, soul and world music are its main flavors, in new and used vinyl (all high quality), and rarities abound. You can also find DJ accessories such as record bags and needles.

DJs in Lisbon, take notice: if you're into leftfield far-out funky stuff, Peekaboo is the place to go and satisfy your dusty little fingers!

Long Live Twice!

The Lisbon record shop community has lost another member: Twice has closed in June 2017, another victim of Lisbon's savage gentrification. But manager Gonçalo isn't defeated: he's still selling records online on Discogs (as twice.discos) while looking for a new place to revive his marvellous, cosy shop.

UPDATE: In 2021, Gonçalo has opened shop in Ericeira, a beautiful coastal village 50 km from Lisbon. If you like beaches and good seafood, rent a car and pay him a visit!

• Sound Club Store: Extended opening hours (10am to 8pm), promo records (CDs and vinyl) and T-shirts giveaway for paying customers, as well as promotions. Also, DJ sets by Alfred Chambel, Trol 2000 and shop owner Alexandre Barbosa.
• Louie Louie: Some promotions and new stock entries.
• Carpet and Snares: 50% discount in all used records, discounts on new records up to 40% and also special RSD editions!
• Vinil Experience: 1 new LP - €1 discount / 2 new LPs - € 3 discount, used LPs with 15% discount, 7" with 10% discount (except rarities). And some some surprises as well...
• Discolecção: 10% discount on all LPs and 20% discount on all CDs (notice that there's a new Discolecção on Espaço Chiado, the shopping centre which houses both Sound Club Store and Carpet and Snares!)
• Magic Bus: 10% to 20% discount over all used stuff (CD/LP/DVD).

MEGASTORE by Largo

For decades one of the nastiest neighbourhoods in downtown Lisbon, Intendente has become one of the trendiest. In the centre of it all, a square with the name of the respective Provincial Governor (in portuguese: Intendente), where everything happens - even finding records for sale!

Sponsored by Largo Residencies, the Megastore may not look that mega from the outside, but inside you'll find a trove of goodies! A joint venture of sorts formed by A Record A Day and Monolith Records, this Megastore is guaranteed to fuel your digging instincts.
There's a lot to be discovered here: from classic rock to african world music, from punk to metal, you'll find a bit of everything. Most of the selection is on used vinyl and CDs, but there are also new records, and a great selection of Portuguese rarities.

So if you are coming to Intendente to stroll around, have a snack or feel the sunshine on your face, don't forget to get some music from this friendly Megastore!
